Our experience working for our client.
Translation is not an exact science. Therefore, if you request the same translation from different professionals, the result will always be different. But, in addition to the natural differences between translations produced by different professionals, there is a frequently overlooked differentiating factor: quality. A good quality translation is one that aims at the client's objective. If it is a certified translation, it must be rigorously faithful (in meaning) to the original. If it is an artistic translation (of a poem), it is a recreation. If it is the translation of a prose text, it must try to be faithful to the meaning and form of the original text, attempting to reproduce stylistic effects created by the author of the original text. Commercial translation, aimed at packaging, websites, and promotional materials, must follow all the principles of advertising copywriting, which we use, for example, to write texts in Portuguese. Technical translations must always bear in mind that the guidelines contained therein will affect someone's actions and must therefore be clear and precise.
Translation can be an easy or difficult business. It depends on the level of commitment of the translation agent to their client. It also depends on the number of revisions made and who does the revisions. For a good translator, the more difficult the work, the better it is. It is the challenge that leads us to evolve. Completing a difficult project is like winning a trophy.
